There is no national list of providers that matters to you. There is only the list of carriers whose facilities actually reach your building, and that list is usually shorter and more interesting than buyers expect.
Why the provider list changes street by street
The kinds of carrier that compete for a building
- 1Incumbent local carriers. Nearly universal reach and rarely the cheapest, but hard to beat where nobody else has built. Their pricing moves most on term.
- 2Competitive fiber carriers. Deep in business districts and thin outside them. When one already lights your building, it usually wins on price, and it knows that.
- 3Cable operators. Broad coverage and aggressive pricing, asymmetric bandwidth, and heavy use of promotional rates that step up later in the term.
- 4Fixed wireless and satellite. No trenching, so quick to deliver where fiber would mean construction. Often the fastest route to a live circuit at a difficult address.

A carrier that already reaches your building can underbid one that has to build to you, and it will, but generally only when it knows someone else is quoting. The number of qualified bidders does more for your rate than anything you say on a call.
● A long list is not a good sign
Any provider can claim nationwide coverage. What matters is whether it has facilities at your address or is quietly reselling someone who does. Ask which it is, because it determines who actually owns your outage.
Choosing a provider, straight answers
Which providers serve my address?
It depends on which carriers have built to your building, which is why national coverage maps are close to useless at a specific street address. Post the requirement and the carriers that genuinely qualify are the ones that respond.
How many providers should I get quotes from?
Enough to see a spread, which in practice means a handful rather than one. Up to five can bid here. Past that you are comparing noise rather than gaining leverage.
Is the biggest carrier the safest choice?
Not automatically. A regional carrier that owns fiber into your building often delivers faster and fixes faults sooner than a national brand reselling access it does not control.
Who do I actually contract with?
The carrier you pick, on their paper. We run the bid and we are paid by the channel, not by you, and you are free to decline every offer you receive.
